Avenue is upgrading from Moodle 3.10 to Moodle 4.5
What does this mean?
There will be a 3-to-4 day window (over a weekend) when Avenue will not be accessible. We will let you know when these dates are confirmed (currently expected mid-November). During this time, neither you nor your students will be able to log into Avenue.
What is changing?
How you interact with Moodle. So, some icons will change shape and colour, but the names of activities and how they operate will remain the same.
What is NOT changing?
- How you and your students log into Avenue.
- The My Home tab.
- The Binder (ePortfolio) tab.
What happens when Avenue comes back online after upgrading?
Avenue will generally operate as usual, but some things will look different. We will be preparing updated screenshots and help files, and will be available to answer any questions on Avenue Support/Live Help.
Will we have to take more training?
You will not be required to undertake more training because of the upgrade.
We plan to have a short video and document to show what is different from the older version to the new version.
Why are you doing this?
Just as FaceBook, Gmail and LinkedIn look different than they did five years ago, we must adapt with technology changes.
Moodle 4.5 allows us to keep updated with all features and have better system performance.
It also allows us to add more tools (more about that when these tools are ready).
As IRCC notes, Adaptability and Digital Literacy Skill for Success (for all of us!)
Please prepare to have patience with yourself and technology, and to help guide your students through the change.
We will be here to help you make it successful.
