How We Use AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are a normal part of how modern software and educational content get built. We use AI in a few specific, limited ways within the Avenue project, and this page explains what those are, along with the boundaries we hold around personal and Learner information.
The short version: we never put private or Learner information into an AI tool. AI plays a role in building the Avenue experience, not in handling the personal information within it.
1. Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Avenue holds sensitive information about our Learners, including details connected to their immigration journey. We do not type, paste, or upload any Learner’s name, contact information, immigration or citizenship status, assessment results, submissions, messages, or any other identifying detail into an AI tool, for any reason.
This applies everywhere AI could touch that information: in AI features built into other software, browser extensions, or meeting and transcription tools. If something could expose Learner or personal data, it stays out of AI systems entirely.
2. How We Use AI
Within those boundaries, our team uses AI for a small number of practical, low-risk purposes:
- Creating language learning activities, lesson content, quizzes, worksheets, and discussion prompts that don’t reference real Learners.
- Brainstorming curriculum ideas and activity concepts.
- Programming and development work on the Avenue platform itself, such as writing or reviewing code, debugging, and drafting technical documentation. Any sample data used for testing is fake or synthetic, never real Learner records.
- Drafting general, non-confidential communications, templates, and internal documentation.
3. What We Never Use AI For
- Processing or storing Learner personal information, submissions, messages, or assessments.
- Making decisions about a Learner’s progress, eligibility, or standing.
- Anything involving account credentials, passwords, or API keys.
