New Language Solutions (NLS) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing Technology-enhanced Language Learning to support the successful settlement and integration of newcomers to Canada. Working in partnership with instructors, language training providers, researchers, and learning technology specialists, the organization develops tools, resources, and professional development opportunities that strengthen language training programs across the country.
NLS operates through a distributed network of specialists and contractors, bringing together expertise in instructional design, information technology, informatics, digital learning environments, curriculum development, research, and communications. This collaborative model has enabled the organization to grow steadily, serve stakeholders in multiple regions, and remain responsive to the evolving needs of Canada’s settlement sector.
Introducing Avenue Canada Solutions
Over the past six years, Avenue.ca has become the most visible and widely recognized part of our work. For many learners, educators, funders, and sector partners, Avenue is their primary point of interaction with our organization.
The new name will create a clearer and more consistent identity across our products, services, and communications. It builds on the strong recognition already associated with the Avenue.ca brand while strengthening our bilingual and pan-Canadian presence. The transition will also support the organization’s long-term sustainability and succession planning by making it easier for stakeholders to understand our role, our purpose, and the value we bring to the sector.
The Rebranding Process
The expert design team at Cole Systems has developed five branding concepts, including logo, colour palette, and typography options. These have now been narrowed to three finalists, with a final selection expected this week.
Once the new visual identity is finalized, updated email signatures, newsletter templates, PowerPoint and Word templates, websites, and other communications materials will be rolled out in phases over the coming weeks and months. As the rebranding progresses, stakeholders will begin to see the new name and visual identity reflected across our platforms and communications.
What Remains the Same
While our name is changing, our purpose is not.
Our mission, vision, values, partnerships, and commitment to supporting language learning and newcomer settlement across Canada remain exactly the same. We will continue to work alongside the organizations, instructors, and learners who have made Avenue and New Language Solutions successful, while building a stronger and more recognizable national identity for the future.
